CABLE SOLUTIONS FOR E-MOBILITYCables specially for AC and DC applications

CABLE SOLUTIONS FOR CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURES

Cable solutions for AC and DC systems for public transport in the rail infrastructure, electric buses or for the charging infrastructure of private transport (private electromobility).

City Grid – Infrastructure and Electromobility

Electromobility is currently dominating many conversations on the topic of “mobility”.
The steadily increasing demand for electrically powered vehicles raises entirely new issues for energy suppliers. No one can predict today what we will be confronted with in the next few years.

Therefore, one should already prepare for many eventualities today and expand one’s planning accordingly. Tomorrow’s power grids will certainly be confronted with significantly higher power load capacities.

Challenge

More and more companies, transport services and private households have a higher demand for electricity due to the rapidly growing electromobility. Here it is important – also in the long term – to transport the required energy to the consumer and to prepare the city and local grids for this trend.

Solution

BayEnergy® power cables: our NA2X2Y convinces with*:
10-15 % greater current-carrying capacity reserve (due to higher permissible conductor temperature), up to 4 times the service life at the same load, no melting of the insulation in the event of a short circuit (thanks to cross-linked insulation) and uncomplicated installation (thanks to very robust PE outer jacket).

*compared to a NAYY cable.

Charging Infrastructure in Private Transport

Electromobility in private transport

DC systems have been used in rail transport for a long time and are thus operated in direct current. This has the advantage that the new electromobility can be seamlessly integrated there.
In public transport, there are even more demands on materials and operational safety than in private transport. For example, new environmental influences or new urban architectural plans and implementations. In addition, there are new legal guidelines, requirements, regulations and specifications.
Bayka has been working intensively on all these issues for a long time and has therefore we have been able to develop optimal solutions for rail transport infrastructures in line with present concerns.

Challenge

The public transport infrastructure is subject to harsh and weather-intensive influences:
Sunlight (UV), wetness (especially dew wetness), heat/cold, oils and lubricants …
Mechanical stress or a changing urban architecture also play a role:
Vibrations on the rail or mast, laying of cables in or on the mast (tight bending radii) …
Electromobility now also brings the charging infrastructure into play: where and how can conductive charging points for electric buses be set up? Are the conductive charging points stationary (charging point in the electric bus depot) or dynamic (docking station) on the tram route?

Solution

Flexible feeder cables for trams and electric buses
There are different versions for indoor (with high fire protection according to CPR B2ca) and outdoor.
The products are available in AC and DC in various constellations.
BayMotion® cables are particularly flexible and allow very tight bending radii. Depending on the version, they can be laid in the ground and are UV weather-resistant. In our list you will find cables for the power supply for underground, trams and electric buses.

Charging Infrastructure in Private Transport

Electromobility in private transport

The new type of mobility is finding its way into our society more and more – mobility is changing significantly. Private mobility – so-called individual transport – is not unaffected by this either, and the number of newly registered electric vehicles is growing rapidly.

For several years, we have been developing flexible solutions that can be used in a variety of ways, and a number of infrastructures (rapid charging solutions, electronic bus infrastructures) have already been tested and implemented with our products.

Challenge

The variety of solutions is large and the questions surrounding the topic are similarly large.

In the passenger car segment, a differentiation is already made between 4 charging scenarios:
AC standard, AC with ICCB/IC-CPD – in cable control box – in cable control and protection device), DC with inverter (e.g. wallbox) and inductive charging (not yet so widespread).

In turn, a distinction is made between 3 levels:
Normal charging less than 22 kW, fast charging less than 50 kW and high-power charging less than 400 kW. Depending on the charging scenario, AC or DC is used. The expansion of charging points poses new challenges for classic city, local and distribution network operators (DSOs).

Solution

Cable solutions for laying low-voltage main distribution boards to the distribution boards or directly to the charging pole, depending on the concept. Fibre optic cables for communication between distributor and charging pole, as current collectors for electronic buses, pilot line, auxiliary power and grounding cables.

The products are available in AC and DC in various constellations.
