Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Andreas Hoffmann, department R&D, describes in a detailed way the impact of environmental influences on the life span of signalling cables. Research has shown that humidity and water within the cable can harm the plant and lead to malfunctions. These negative impacts can be reduced or eliminated through longitudinally or transversally waterproof cables.

Thanks to the development of robust, filled signalling cables – Bayka was massively involved here – a trouble-free operation over the planned lifetime of minimum 35 years can be guaranteed.
